Ce projet réalisé avec le logiciel CVLab de l’EPFL est une illustration animée dans la rue de la nouvelle du «Chat noir» de Edgar Allan Poe. Le narrateur du «chat noir», pris de folie, arrache l’oeil de son chat, puis, tourmenté par sa culpabilité, il finit par le tuer et le cacher derrière une pierre dans sa cave. Ce moment du récit est transposé dans la rue, contextualisé sur un muret bourgeois qui fait écho à l’atmosphère de la nouvelle.
Par l’intermédiaire de l’ordinateur, on peut voir ce qui se passe peut-être derrière les murs, dans la rue. C’est une projection de l’imagination dans le quotidien. Comme une vision.

The Black Cat

This project, realized with the CVlab software from EPFL is an animated illustration set in the street of the tale « The Black Cat » by Edgar Allan Poe. The Black Cat’s narrator runs amok and pulls his cat’s eye out. Then, tormented by guilt, decides to kill it and hides the corpse behind a stone in his cellar. This moment of the story is transposed in the street’s settings, contextualized on the wall of a bourgeois house that reflects the tale’s atmosphere. Through the computer, we can see what may happen behind those walls, out in the street. It’s a projection of imagination in ordinary life. Like a vision.
